Senior Portraits: Jordan, La Habra High School, Class of 2011

Jordan is a fun loving girl who enjoys photography and water polo, not to mention she’s my Senior Rep for the class of 2011. About to venture into her senior year at La Habra High School, Jordan is having a blast. One of the funniest parts of our shoot was when we ran into some current…

yet again – great set Amber. Jordan sure has gorgeous eyes, beautiful shiny hair and great skin. The setting in front of the yellow Cat sure show her features off – especially in photo 2010-13, that yellow is the perfect contrast to her hair. I also love 2010-8 and especially 2010-5 – both have great composition that lead me into the photo. I really like how the path meanders off showing how she has gone partway down the path but still has quite a path ahead of her (great story/poetry in that one)

Love these, especially that last one!

Becker Goes Back to School

I was so excited when Becker agreed to come and speak to my students that I couldn’t fall asleep last night. At this point in the year, my seniors are totally suffering from Senioritis, and I knew they needed the shot in the arm of my biggest photo inspiration, Chris Becker.  So today he swung…

So awesome!!! I can imagine how great it was and how inspiring he was to those kids. I wish someone like Becker spoke in my high school class. Great job as always, Amber!!!

  • JaquelineMarch 26, 2010 - 11:54 pm

I wish I could have been there… the funny thing is I just spent today watching him on a video blog/ chat with photographer Gabriel Ryan for the [b] school, didn’t click until now that it was the same guy… lol thats kind of funny!

  • Thomas FrankMarch 27, 2010 - 11:00 am

Becker Rocks! Wait, you Rock! How fun!

  • Shane ThompsonMarch 27, 2010 - 11:46 am

What a great opportunity for your students to have someone like [b]ecker come speak to him. I hope they learned something from him, and appreciated how neat that is that he would come and spend the day with them.

  • KeatsMarch 27, 2010 - 4:54 pm

I can’t believe he wore his “I facebooked your mom” t-shirt to school! I’m so glad you guys had a great day with Becker — he said if his high school photography teacher had been half as cute and sweet as you Amber, the whole school would have grown up to be photographers 🙂 You are an amazing new friend!

  • teachingwithsoulMarch 28, 2010 - 10:09 am

Amber…Thanks so much for continuing to be an Inspiring Teacher! I so appreciate the effort you give to your students and your work as a teacher. I hope you never lose your passion…Blessings and ((hugs))

SOO great Amber! Never met Becker, but you can’t argue with what he’s done for the industry. Love that you had this connection with him to bring in him for your students!

PS – I owe you an email 🙂

  • charla BLUEMarch 29, 2010 - 7:13 pm

That is so awesome, Amber. You are so lucky to teach what you love. So fantastic that Becker took time to share his love too with your kids. Congrats!

  • Larry ReevesMarch 30, 2010 - 2:28 pm

Hey Amber! Your blog design is stellar! I just found your work through the [b] school. I, too, have shot with Becker and he’s been such an inspiration/mentor to me over the last 2 years. That’s so awesome that he came out and did this. Keep up the great work! Cheers!

  • Tira JApril 6, 2010 - 8:58 am

SO AWESOME!!!! I actually DO believe that he wore that shirt! What a crazy and talented dude!!! And, just like Gail mentioned, I owe you an email too, but I am afraid to say that the one I found is a few months old!!! Have fun at Joshua Tree today! Hope to see you soon.

James & Laura Jane Got Married!

Laura was working in Vromans Bookstore last January when James was filming an interview with an author, and they hit it off right from the start. A year later, Laura’s wedding beer was flowing. That’s right — Laura homebrewed 20 gallons of hoppy IPA and Matrimony Ale for all the guests at the lovely Grayson Gardens….

[…] So here is the brilliant Amber Fox, photographer most awesome, who captured James and Laura quite well! […]

  • Bob ( Father of the bride )March 28, 2010 - 9:20 am

Dear Amber and Karen, I agree with David, Now I know why Laura and James picked you for their photographers. You couldn’t have done a better job if you tried. What a wonderful finished product. Your work speaks for itself but if you ever have any potential clients that are on the fence about selecting Amber Fox as their photographer, have them call me and I’ll close the deal. Two words: Simply Spectacular.

  • my.March 30, 2010 - 8:18 pm

Looks like a fun wedding! Amber, what an amazing job you did capturing all the smiles. And I’m glad you got some shots of the bride’s amazing eyes!

Amberfox have captured the beauity not only in their subjects but in their unconventional way of taking wedding pictures. It is fun to watch over and over again.

What a Fox Eats

Shortly before I left for WPPI, I was chit chatting with some students and one of my girls asked me, with all seriousness, where raisins were from. Laughing off my disbelief that she didn’t know that these yummy little wrinkled balls of sugar come from grapes, I thought to myself, I need to do something…

  • Lorrie ProtheroMarch 17, 2010 - 9:59 pm

ah – YUM~!!! you seriously have some good looking gourmet foods to eat – I’ll give up junk for that!! Nice shots too, love the pot on the stove, great depth, color and love the worn, slightly discolored knobs, your stove is cool!

  • GailMarch 22, 2010 - 7:32 am

If you have a way to do it, you should DVR Friday’s premiere of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution program coming up on ABC. He goes into schools in West Virginia to overhaul their food choices. You’d think this was the premiere of Eclipse or something for how excited I am over this show, but I’m a foodie at heart, so I LOVE what you’re doing here Amber! And as someone who almost became a teacher (9 credits shy of my master’s..yeesh), I wish I could sub for your class!!!

  • Thomas FrankMarch 22, 2010 - 4:19 pm

Ok I am officially hungry now! LOL

  • my.March 30, 2010 - 8:21 pm
