Gorgeous! I love that orange dress. And the second one of her in the gray dress is just breathtaking. There is such a beautiful purity about her that you captured. Beautiful work!

Amber, what a stellar work of art! I totally agree with Jen’s comment-you really have captured the beautiful purity in Jessica. The juxtapositions that you handle so well are very evident: classy, soft, subtle & sweet to bold, vibrant, stunning and fun! Well done!

My Senior Portrait

When we moved all our stuff from our little apartment into our new home I was given the opportunity to reminisce as I sorted through closets and old stuff. At the back of the closet and under a bunch of stuff was my high school yearbook, which I hadn’t opened in years. It made a…

  • TrudeMarch 24, 2011 - 11:07 am

Wow such lovely photos! B&W will never stop being classic. I wish I had done something like that (class of 2001!). But it’s funny that the one my parents still have up is the “casual” look too. 🙂

  • Karen ReVelleMarch 24, 2011 - 12:05 pm

the senior pix of you are beautiful! I was on yearbook staff my senior year of high school, so I have TONS of pix of me from all of our senior events, but no real “fun portraits” like this. such fun and all the more reason to celebrate unique senior photos! 🙂

  • Mark WilliamsonMarch 24, 2011 - 1:37 pm

This is probably the best story about why to hire a GOOD photographer to take your senior portraits that I have ever read.

And, yes, they do look good.

  • Stacee LiannaMarch 24, 2011 - 6:08 pm

This is such a great post! My mom refused to let me wear what I wanted too, and she made me dye my hair a different color red just for the pictures.

  • Jackie FariaMarch 24, 2011 - 6:58 pm

What a beautiful family, love the yellow on your friend.

Are you still using Animoto for your slideshows?

  • Lori BollowMarch 17, 2011 - 3:06 pm

Amber you are such an amazing artist! The week and hours leading up to this shoot were causing me to lose my mind because it is simply the nature of our life stage. I just sat down to look at these photos for the first time after spending an hour putting the boys down for naps and cleaning spaghetti sauce off the walls. This is my crazy life. You captured the BEAUTY of life with two young boys! I have always admired your creative work but to see how you transformed our chaos into radiance is such a wonderful thing. Thank you so much. These photos are a gift that we will forever cherish. Now I have to go because I hear Finley waking up and screaming through the baby monitor. So much love to you. I can’t wait to order our prints!

  • Elaine JohnsonMarch 17, 2011 - 6:07 pm

John was one of my closest college friends. While time and distance have left us disconnected, I treasure John. So great to get a glimpse into the Bollow family who I continue to love and admire from halfway across the country!

Just great! Love the personalities shining through.

  • johnny bollowMarch 17, 2011 - 11:32 pm

When can I buy photos of that hot mama and her photogenic boys! (And that vagrant she picked up, I guess he’ll do.)

Amber, thank you, thank you, thank you for capturing and truly holding still for a moment in time so many things that I feel for my family. Wow, what power in your photography: to be able to make me pause and realize the reasons I’m a Dad and husband.

What a gift — can’t wait to order some prints from you.

    Much love and gratitude,

    John

    Amber,
This photo shoot was just toooo precious! You certainly captured the essence of Lori and John as not only a loving couple, but also as incredibly loving parents. Not to mention, the sweet spirits of the kids that bless all of us lucky enough to call them ‘family’. Great job (and good job Lori and John for taking the time to do this).
