Amber’s Senior Photos & Kitchen Sink Workshop

One of the things that makes a successful photographer is a dedication to learning. Every year, I try to make it to at least one photography conference. I have taken Amanda Holloway’s online classes, but it was due time to head out to Texas to meet her in person and attend the Kitchen Sink Workshop. This has been a long time coming and I was super excited to learn from one of the best in the industry. We learned so much, that my brain hurt by the end of three days. If any of my readers are on the fence on attending her workshop, I would say a huge YES and get your bum on a plane to Texas!

The weekend I went to Texas, there was hurricane like weather. Being from SoCal, I was terrified to drive in the crazy rain. Friends of mine who are from Texas, told that if was I attempted to drive, that “I should turn around, before I drown.” Thankfully, I carpooled down to Amanda’s studio with some other conference attendees. 🙂 And then the bugs, was also something I had never experienced or the insane humidity. But put that all aside, the learning and shooting were phenomenal.

I loved working with Amber, my junior from the Woodlands High School. She was full of spunk and energy, and had the most beautiful eyes! And I loved her aviator glasses. I also did a fun practice with her that I love to do with my students. I asked Amber to dramatically act out a bunch of different words for me, and she was a hoot. As you can see, we had a lot of fun together.
