SENIOR Q&A

Why seniors?
When I was in high school, everyone took their senior portraits at the boring yearbook studio. At the time I was a bit insecure, and being under bright lights and wearing an ugly shirt my mom forced on me made me uncomfortable. So I decided to hire my friend’s older boy friend, a super cool photographer, to take fun portraits of me. I had never realized how beautiful I was until I looked at those pictures. He made me feel like a model. I want to do the same for young people in Southern California — show them how beautiful they are!

How would you describe your shooting style?
I do a mixture of candid and posed shots. I might ask you to show off your latest dance move or give me “fierce” as America’s Next Top Model would say. My goal is to make you look and feel beautiful. And in a “drive by shooting” sort of way, I am always on the hunt for the brightly colored garage door or the cool wall with graffiti for that perfect urban backdrop.

What is “drive by shooting?”

One of my goals in your portrait session, is to create an experience you have never had before. I think it’s so fun to have your mom follow me, while driving, while you change into your next outfit, and we do a quick photo shoot against a wall of graffiti in an alley you may of never thought as photographic. And then we all jump back into the car and we find another cool location and shoot.

Can I choose the location?
Absolutely! If you have a cool place in mind, I would love to explore a new location. But if you want ideas, I have a bunch of urban or natural settings.

How long?
A typical session takes approximately 2 hours. I don’t like to rush things. We get to hang out and take pictures while you are looking fabulous. And if you want to have both an urban look alongside a natural look, 2 hours is perfect. But if you want to hire me for longer, I have the perfect package for you. Or if you can’t imagine being in front of the camera for 2 hours, I also offer a 1 hour and 30 minute session.

What products do you offer?
Photos are NOT meant to stay on your computer, so I offer a variety of products — big albums that your parents can display or small albums you can throw in your purse, canvas or metal prints to show off to your friends, and graduation announcements that are way cooler than the ones that you order from school. And parents, I can even make a personalized page for the yearbook.

What should I wear?
Ultimately, I want you to wear what ever makes YOU feel and look YOUR best. But of course I have some suggestions. I love when my clients show off their personalities with color, fun accessories, funky jewelry, or cool shoes. For guys, just wear something cool. Stay away from bold patterns though, because they can take away from your gorgeous face!

A photo session is an excuse to go shopping, so hit up your favorite store and ask one of the workers to help you put together the perfect outfit. Show off your style! But if you still can’t decide on what to wear, bring a bunch of outfits and I can help you pick the best outfits or you can change a few times. My favorite stores to shop are Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters or Forever 21.

How should I do my make-up?
Ladies, please wear a little more make up than you are used to. Foundation & powder are going to make your skin look like cream, eyeliner & mascara are going to make your eyes pop, blush will give your cheeks definition and your favorite gloss will show off your smile. Or make a day out of it and get your hair and make up done! It’s your day, so have fun with it.

How much?
My senior sessions start at $300. This price is for my time both taking pictures and editing them, talent & training and online hosting. Please email me for my print, album and package information.

If you have any additional questions about packages, feel free to email me.
