Amber Fox Photographer » Stylish Portraits for Hip & Happy High School Seniors & Families in Orange County & Los Angeles, CA

Emily Hauke was a true joy to photograph. She is a joy to be around, is super beautiful and has a contagious personality. We did her urban inspired senior portrait session all over the streets of Downtown Fullerton and one of my favorite nature spots in Orange County. Emily is a Senior at Sonora High School, Class of 2016 and I have had the honor of photographing her through out the year, since she is one of my Foxy Models. You can see her other shoots here, here and here. Amber Fox Photographer, Emily Hauke, Class of 2016, OC Senior Portraits (14).jpg

Emily really wanted to do an urban session, filled with lots of edginess and grafitti. In Orange County, that is actually kind of hard to find. Ha! But we headed over to one of my favorite alley ways in Fullerton and got some great shots! Paired with her favorite Converse, Emily’s outfit was perfefct for an urban backdrop. A few years back, I photographed Emily’s sister, Sarah. Her sisters session was filled with everything girly and lots of flowers. Emily wanted to have her senior portrait session to be very different and all her own. I just love that!

After Emily’s first outfit, it was time to switch it up and get dressy! I absolutely love this adorable ensemble. And it really shows a different side of personily. One of the things that I love about working with my Foxy Models, is that they really learn how to feel comfortable in front of the camera. They learn how to move their body and pose. My Foxy Models learn that they are beautiful! And they know that I love when my girls smile…and Emily has a gorgeous smile!

This shot has to be my all time favorite photo from the shoot! And her favorite as well. I totally did a happy dance when we found a trailor covered in fabulous graffiti. Amber Fox Photographer, Emily Hauke, Class of 2016, OC Senior Portraits (8).jpg

We then headed to one of my favorite spots in Orange County to do some hip nature shots. Growing up I was always obsessed with cactus, and my love for these cool plants live on. So I was super excited when Emily chose this location for her nature section. So cool! Amber Fox Photographer, Emily Hauke, Class of 2016, OC Senior Portraits (9).jpg

When I was at my Conference 12 Workshop I got a bunch of beautiful Mexican textiles and costume pieces for a styled shoot, so I really excited to use some of my fun new photo props, like this beautiful blanket.

For the past year I have been dabbling in off-camera lighting and learning how to master it. It’s a challenge for sure, but when I nail it and create the vision I have in my head, it is so freaking exciting and creatively satisfying. Seriously, people, doesn’t Emily look amazing!? Every know and then I get to do a Fabulous at 30 shoot. If you have been on my blog before, you know that I specialize in Senior Portraits, but I love when I get the opprotunity to photograph woman who are my age. Rebekah is a one of my dear friends and I was so excited when she asked me to photograph her so she could update her head shots for her professional online presence. Rebekah is big deal in the world of higher education and gives all sorts of presentations all over the country, so it’s super important to have a good head shot.

For her shoot, she of course got her hair and makeup done at the wonderful Salon Lujon with my lovely ladies, Deanna & Amanda and walked out looking like a super model. I think that every woman should have the opportunity to get all dolled up and photographed!

We had a great time getting relaxed and natural portraits using all natural light.

I wish I could photograph all my friends and update their online profile. Or better yet, have incredible photos of themselves to pass on to their children.

Rebekah is one smart cookie! She is one of the most brilliant women I know and it’s an honor to be her friend. I have really enjoyed having weekly fellowship with her at church, in my community group and my women’s bible study. She is a soul sister and it was an honor to create beautiful images of my beautiful friend.

I love learning. And I love learning about photography. I had the best time at Conference 12, held in Scottsdale Arizona and put on by the wonderful Seniorologie. IF you want to check out my first post about the first day of the wonderful learning experience, then check out Part One. Day two featured an incredibly fun keynote on Branding from Becki Crosby, aka Whippy Cake. And I loved learning from the fabulous Brittney Kluse talked about creating a Slammin Senior Brand. A huge highlight for me was learning from Jared Rey, who I have been good friends with for years.

But first lets start with some amazing photos styled by Kelly Cowieson. She created a Coachella inspired look, with a total hippie feeling. Loved this look, especially against a gorgeous Arizona mountain backdrop.

Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior PicturesSo back to the review…Day two was epic! Our morning started off with an incredible dose of learning from the eccentric Whippy Cake. Number one, I love this girl. She is super spunky, totally adorable and super authentic. She told us her whole origin story, which always makes me feel better about myself and gives me hope for what I can become if I work super hard. Whippy Cake is an internet sensation who built her online presence starting out selling little cupcakes and now is a fashion & beauty blogger. And she is fabulous. And I especially loved her pixie haircut and gave me inspiration for what I can do with my short hair.  Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior Pictures Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior PicturesThen came a long Brittney Kluse to the stage. I have been online friends with Brittney for years, and I have enjoyed watching her business grow and grow to the wild success it is today. Watching her dynamic personality on stage was definitely eye opening to why she is in such high demand. Not only does she create fabulous photos that are infused with color and energy, just like her, but her brand reeks optimism and joy. And what people don’t want more joy in their life. Being around Brittany, just makes you happy! And so does her work. I would LOVE to have my family photographed by her! Maybe one day. Brittney talked about how she created her brand built around the idea of “modern, clean and a pop of color”. Ok, can I steal that? My tag line is hip & happy senior portraits, but I totally describe my work as modern, clean and a pop of color too! Ha! But it was awesome hearing how Brittney’s business is built on intangible feelings about her & her imagery.  Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior Pictures Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior PicturesThen we heard from my rockstar friend, and only guy at the conference, Jared Rey. Jared and I became friends at another workshop years ago, and have stayed in touch since then. I was super pumped to learn from him in person, teaching us all about off camera flash. Jared has been working with me via Skype & texting before shoots, walking me through the ways of off-camera flash, but being able to learn from him and practice with him at my side, was super invaluable. I know have the confidence I need to bring to a shoot when the light is disappearing or when their is an epic sunset and I want to capture my client with out blowing out the sky. Thanks friend for helping me rock my camera!  Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior Pictures Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior PicturesAnd then the wonderful Misti Davis of Pink Fly Photo, hit the stage. I have followed Misti for years on IG, so it was super cool to learn from her. She spoke on Concept Shooting, which is usually what I strive for with my big Foxy Model shoots, but she challenged us to do this with every senior client. Her work is incredible and she is uber creative, so I was kind of blown away at how easy she makes it look. Totally inspired! I love this quote she included in her Keynote: “You have to find what sparks a light in you, so you in your own way, can illuminate the world,” Oprah.  Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior PicturesAfter a full day of learning, we headed to the hills and got some super fun shots of these two gorgeous models. Kelly styled them to look like they were heading to a summer concert, like Coachella. I wish I looked this styled when I was in high school heading to Lollapalooza, 1996! Woot! Oh those were the days!:) Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior PicturesAnd we ended with some sweet shots of this lovely model playing the guitar. I wish I was this cool! Isn’t she gorgeous?!  Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior Pictures Amber Fox Photo, Seniorologie, Fullerton Senior PicturesSo was this conference amazing? Yes! Would I go again? Yes! If you are considering going to a workshop that is all about Senior Portraits, then I would seriously consider signing up. It was super awesome!

This shoot was special to me. I simply love this young lady. Kelsy McColgan is not only a Foxy Model, but she is my partner in crime. She has assisted me on most of my shoots this Senior season, and I have loved having her at my side. She has been a blast to work with and I have really enjoyed having her at my side. So when it came time to do her Senior Pictures, we had a blast!  Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School

Kelsy is a Class of 2016 Senior, at Los Alamitos High School. Her two great loves in life are photography (high fives) and fencing, which makes her super cool! She is such a sweet heart too; always filled with giggles and smiles. With a schedule filled with AP classes and a dream to go to UC San Diego, Kelsy is also a Foxy Model. You can see her gorgeousness from our Stitch & Feather shoots, where she is looking totally adorable and also at our Beauty From the Ashes.
Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School We stumbled upon this epic location in Downtown Fullerton. I have shot just outside this location many times, but the gates of this fun location were opened, so we ventured in and took some pics. Don’t worry, I got permission!  Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School Kelsy really wanted a vintage car to be a part of her Senior Portrait shoot, so we were both giddy when we saw this epic classic sitting in the lot.  Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School We then busted some fashionista poses and got some beautiful shots.  Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School Even when Kelsy isn’t smiling, her sweetness just oozes from her eyes. I love this girl!  Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School It was time for an outfit change and I love her pretty pink top. And the backdrop was SO PERFECT for this whole look.  Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School And of course, we had to get some shots on this pretty blue back drop. The pink is just popping off the screen!  Amber Fox Photo, Kelsy McColgan, OC Senior Portraits, Los Alamitos High School Another location that Kelsy wanted, was something pretty and with tons of flowers. I was super excited to show this wall of flowers. She almost looks Hawaiian.

You are a delight to be around and I really hope you get into your dream school of UC San Diego.

Ashley’s senior portrait shoot was seriously so much fun! I loved exploring new locations in Fullerton, to get some super unique senior pictures, but still staying true to the Amber Fox Photographer style.  Ashley Park, Troy High School, Fullerton Senior Portraits, OC Senior PicturesAshley is Senior at Troy High School and is a jewel of a young lady. She is super smart with a full load of AP classes, is on the yearbook staff and somehow finds time to do Varsity Cheer.  Ashley Park, Troy High School, Fullerton Senior Portraits, OC Senior Pictures Ashley Park, Troy High School, Fullerton Senior Portraits, OC Senior PicturesWe were on our way to a fun urban spot and stumbled upon this glorious garage door. One of the things I love about a lot of the houses in Downtown Fullerton, is that a lot of them are painted fun colors and have tremendous character.  Ashley Park, Troy High School, Fullerton Senior Portraits, OC Senior Pictures Ashley Park, Troy High School, Fullerton Senior Portraits, OC Senior PicturesAnd then we chased the light and got some fun backlit shots. I loved Ashley’s whole look here…a fun cute jean jacket with a black dress and a chunky necklace.  Ashley Park, Downtown Fullerton, Amber Fox Photo, Senior PicturesAshley, you are stunning!
