Seniorologie: My Boys Want Me To Go

I am a big follower of the blog Seniorologie. It’s a blogsite that is dedicated to senior portrait photography, so it’s right up my alley. I have even been featured on it here and here. But in April, they are having a workshop with some of my favorite senior portrait photographers and I REALLY want to go.

In order to win a FREE seat to the workshop, they are having a contest of who could submit the best video telling the world why they want to go and it had to make sure to show off the maker’s personality. Wanting to think outside the box, I thought it would be fun to involve my little actors. After all, they do have experience with being on a Hollywood set.

I am sure you can all imagine how much I would LOVE to go to such a workshop. I would be able to learn from some of my favorite photogs in the industry. Michelle Moore, Sarah Lane, Meg Borders, Courtney DeLaura, and Leslie Kerrigan will all be teaching different aspects of the biz and I know from being there I would really be able to learn a lot. Plus this momma NEEDS a vacation.

Haley, Yorba Linda High School, Class of 2013

Haley is a Senior at Yorba Linda High School and will be graduating this June with the Class of 2013. Haley is an all around amazing young lady. She comes from good blood too. I am friends with her parents and work with her step mom, so when I got the opportunity to photograph Haley, I jumped at the chance.

Haley is also one of my Foxy Senior Reps, so this is actually the second time I have had the pleasure of photographing her. One of the reasons I love this girl, beyond how adult she seems, is how Haley really knows how to pose in front of my lens. Maybe it’s because we have worked together before, or maybe because she has seen too many episodes of America’s Next Top Model, Haley was a doll to photograph.

Like myself, Haley loves to  travel to far away destinations, as she is quite the international traveler. With this in mind, I thought we would start off our shoot at a fun location that has a bunch of old trains to symbolize the journey she is about to take into adulthood and for her love of seeing the world.

After we got our fill of the train location, we ventured on over to one of my favorite spots along the Fullerton Loop. There was all sorts of crazy cactus behind her, which brought out her GORGEOUS green eyes.

I call this the boyfriend look. You know it…you look back at the boy you like to see if he is checking you out and you give a smile, while tossing your hair back. Haley did it perfectly.

I love the range of expressions Haley brought to the camera. Her parents loved this, as she really looks all grown up.

Pia, Orange County School of the Arts, Class of 2013

I was so excited when Pia, a graduating Senior from OSCA, aka the Orange County School of the Arts, contacted me to do her senior portraits. Pia is an exceptional young lady. She is especially brilliant and articulate, which when coming up with ideas for her shoot, we had so much fun dreaming up something together.

Pia is a part of the Creative Writing Conservatory, so she spends her days immersed in the land of words and she LOVES it. Spending much of her days reading the literary greats to writing elequent prose, Pia is on her way to a top league university to study creative writing. So we wanted to make the shoot all about her love for the written word, but with a nod towards the nostalgic.

After getting all dolled up by my girls at Salon Lujon, we met up at the adorable restaurant Rialto Cafe.

Just outside this vintage inspired cafe, is a great wall of ivy that just screams to be photographed upon.

And I just couldn’t stop at the adorable locations nestled in downtown Fullerton. Pia knew how to work the camera and I loved making her feel beautiful.

Then we ventured onto the Fullerton Train Station and continued to get some adorable pics. Isn’t Pia, just GORGEOUS!!!

We then headed to my favorite woodsy location for some adorable shots with a Fall fashion look.

And since we were laying in leaves, Pia loved the idea of playing with the leaves! What fun we had!

This is one of my favorite images from the shoot. I am so excited that it’s going to be made into a canvas to go above their piano. It’s so dreamy and whimsical.

Katie, Sonora High School Senior Portraits, Class of 2013

Meet Katie Moore, a graduating senior from Sonora High School. She is cute, funky and super sweet.

Katie is into agricultural studies at Sonora High School and plans on studying it in college as well, so our shoot was very cow girl inspired. Yeehaw!

Emily, Cal State Fullerton Senior Portraits, Class of 2013

Every year I photograph the Israel family and this year was a special year in particular, since Emily graduated from Cal State Fullerton.
