Joshua Tree with the [B] School

The highlight of my spring break was going to Joshua Tree with the [B] School. I have always wanted to go on one of their field trips, but never have been able to since I work during the week. But since I had a week off, I had some time to take a day to hang out with my friends and take some pics. If you are a photographer and want to meet some cool peeps who love taking pictures as much as you, check out the [B] School.  Every couple of months [B]ecker and Joe Photo organize these little photo outings, so join the club and start having some fun.

I also recently bought a Lens Baby, so I disciplined myself to only use this lens and nothing else for the whole day. I really wanted to master this lens and I figured after 6 hours of shooting, I would be able to ace the tricky manual focus on this cool lens that tilts the frame and selectively focuses on a small bit of the photo. It was a little hard to get used to, but I had a super fun day shooting an abandoned gold mine and mars like trees on the beautiful desert plains of Joshua Tree.

Whoa those images came out funky cool, especially the image with the purple light. Way to stick with the Lensbaby all day.

Hi Amber! So glad I got to carpool out with you and Tom — had such a fun time! Glad you stuck with the Lensbaby all day as well — I think it will pay off the next time you use it (and you will feel so much more comfortable while using it, too). Love the one of Joe Photo, and I really like how some of them came out in b&w! Good times! 🙂
