Living Room Inspiration: Room & Board

The closer and closer we get to moving to Fullerton, the more obsessed I become with decorating. And for the past month, I have been thinking way too much about couches. I obsessively read Apartment Therapy and Young House Love trying to find tips on buying the best sofa. I know that I want solid wood indicating good construction, something big enough to lie down on and have a style that is sort of retro yet traditional at the same time.

As you can see from the picture below, our new living room has a sort of Craftsman feel to it, so I don’t want to go to0 modern. (Although I secretly LOVE mid-century design.) I have gone back and forth between getting a sectional, but I am not sure if it will fit in the space we have. We plan to host our weekly bible study and have lots of dinner parties, so we need lots of seats. And I will be using this space as my studio to bring clients to, so I want them to be super comfortable as well.

Searching for inspiration on Saturday I found myself at Room & Board, which has a mid-century retro feel to their furniture design and is just plain GORGEOUS! I seriously wanted every room and everything in it. I don’t think our new house will accommodate such a mid-century modern feel, but I was in serious pain from wanting everything!

Stay tuned to the blog for more pictures of the house. We move on saturday morning, so I will be painting our apartment, packing and making lots of trips to our local thrift store this week. AND getting ready to be a home owner.

I really LOVE that triangle coffee table! I’d do anything I could to make that work.

    Hi,
You may know about these local(ish) stores already, but if not check them out for getting custom made sofas for around the same prices as other stores. I think you can even specify the sizes you want, which may help with getting the mid-century look, but on a smaller scale to fit your area. I say mix it up, and I think the clean lines of mid-century go great with the clean lines of the Craftsman era. 🙂

Amber! SO excited for you! I think you TOTALLY could do mid century retro in that living room! Just bring in some more traditional accents in your pillows, picture frames etc and you’ll be golden!
