Back in the day when I was first starting out I would give my clients a disk of all their images and call it a day. Months later, I would often hear that my clients hadn’t printed any of their photos and that they were still on the disk. My heart would break because they were enjoying the family wasn’t enjoying the lovely I photos I took. It was like the shoot never happened, because there was no proof of the gorgeous affair.
Fast forward to when I started to doing in-person sales and creating custom collections for my wonderful clients. Now all my clients have a premier ordering session, where I invite them into my home and show them a gorgeous slideshow of all their images. I love this part, because it’s the first time the parents get to see their gorgeous daughter in all her photographic glory. Tears often well up in their eyes and they are filled with love.
We then look through all the pics one by one and decide which ones are their favorites. Even though I take oodles of pictures, I think I do my clients a favor when I only show them the best of the best images. More often than not, the love pile consists of almost all the photos I show them.
After I show them all the beautiful products I can make for them, I help my clients make the best decision on what to do with all their photos. My gorgeous albums are by far my most popular product because they pretty much get all the images from the shoot. Even though I don’t know that my client is going to buy an album beforehand, I shoot for the album, designing page spreads as I shoot. So when it comes time to design the album, I can easily create stunning layouts that tell the story of the day.
And with every album now, I am gifting my clients with a fun look book magazine of all their images. I know the parents I work with are super appreciative of this, because they don’t want their high school senior taking an expensive keep sake to school. And there is room amongst the pages for their friends to sign it, as if it’s their own personal yearbook.
Beyond albums, all my collections include gift prints of 5×7’s and 8×10’s, so mom and dad can give photos to the grand parents or have a nice print for their office desk.
And no sale is complete without a fun canvas print for the wall. Our seniors are about to graduate, so you want to make sure you have some exceptional imagery around the house to celebrate all their accomplishments. Most likely they are going off to college, so it’s vital to have marvelous photos of your little girl for those moments where you are going to miss them.
So before your darling little one ventures off to college, make sure to book a session with me, so we photograph your daughter. It probably wont be till they get married that you will hire a professional photographer to take beautiful photos of them, so don’t wait! Before you know it, you will have an empty nest.
