While at the AMP workshop with the amazing Amanda Mae, I had the opportunity to photograph Mackenzie along the streets of San Francisco. And the next day, I was blessed again to photograph the darling and beautiful Mackenzie poolside.
One of the things I learned from working alongside Amanda was her incredible styling skills. It was so much fun to see Mackenzie transform from one outfit to another and how she accessorized everything amazingly. I loved everything about the vintage swim style that Mackenzie wore and OMG, she played up the part oh so well.
Another thing that I learned from this shoot was how to photograph in the middle of the afternoon. I typically do my shoots during “golden hour,” when the light is low in the sky and typically flattering to my models. But this poolside shoot was in the middle of the day with full sun. If you look in Mackenzie’s lenses you can see how we were able to successfully get this shot…with the use of a really big diffuser. Otherwise known as a scrim, this bad boy softens the light, while not blocking it entirely, allowing for perfect illumination of Mackenzie’s beauty. We thought it would be fun to have some fun with a beach ball and Mackenzie was just darling!Oh stop it! Love you!I think this is my favorite shot from this series. But I really do love ALL the photos I took that day, so it’s hard to pinpoint a favorite. Mackenzie, you are simply wonderful. You are the sort of model that photographers dream about. You are naturally beautiful and you are so graceful with your movements before the camera. I love your style and everything you brought to the shoot. But most of all, you are such a sweet heart and a joy to be around. I wish you the best at Occidental College and I pray that you have the best college experience a girl can have. Welcome to the sunshine state!
Absolutely gorgeous, Amber! Such beautiful photos, and such an awesome opportunity! Stoked for you!!!
