This Frida Kahlo inspired photo shoot was a long time coming. I have always dreamed of photographing one of my seniors dressed as Frida Kahlo, but I never had the perfect girl. Last year, when I went to the Conference 12 Senior Portrait Workshop in Sedona Arizona, I bought all sorts of dresses, flowers and jewelry for a vision I had. And the supplies just sat in the garage, and the creative project was never realized. But then, Pamela, my Foxy Model, modeled for me as Frida and OMG, it was AMAZING! Perfect makeup, perfect styling and perfect locations all made for an incredible shoot!
Thanks to my unbelievable stylist Stapharoni from Salon Lujon for creating the most incredible look for me to photograph. Pam was stunning and she really helped bring my vision to real life. I just Staph and her awesome talents. For my seniors reading this, you have to hire her for your prom makeup!!! And this whole shoot was shot in Downtown Fullerton and just outside it on one of the trails. I just love Fullerton for always giving me awesome locations to play!
Why Frida Kahlo? According to Wikipedia, “Her work has also been celebrated internationally as emblematic of Mexican national and indigenous traditions, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.” And she is a fashion icon! My sweet Foxy Model Pamela, is 100% Mexican, so I wanted to celebrate her heritage while celebrating Frida at the same time.
Enjoy everyone, as this shoot is probably one of my most favorite shoots of all time.
