I have been photographing Emily for years, so when she called me up to do her engagement session, I nearly squealed. I was so excited to discover that Emily was in love and that she had found the man she was going to spend the rest of her life with. This was seriously the best news, and I was so honored to spend the afternoon at Powder Canyon capturing their love with my camera.

Even though I normally don’t do engagement photos, I found it so fun to lead Emily & David through a process we call the Beloved Method. Instead of posing them over the course of two hours, I asked them a series of questions and instead of giving me the answers, I had them answer them to each other. I simply documented them flirting, laughing and talking about their love for each other. So instead of capturing stale images that are inauthentic, I discovered their love and allowed them to fall deeper in love with each other. It was super fun and we got LOTS of adorable pictures from our short time together.

We chose Powder Canyon because this is where they went on their first date and where he got down on one knee and proposed. It was very fitting that we did their engagement photos here! Enjoy this sweet session which is a bit different that what you normally see here on my blog.
