Muckenthaler Leisure League

The Muckenthaler is the cultural epicenter of Fullerton — concerts, crafts, seminars, everything you could ask for (and a great website URL — www.themuck.com). So once a month the Leisure League, which is pretty much the most explanatory name ever, meets up to play some games. This month it was a bocce ball tournie. If…

A Lesson Learned: Peru

So my seniors graduate in a month! I am excited for summer to come, but parts of me think I only have one more month to leave an impression on these kids. Lets be honest, I want to teach a lot more in my class than just how to take a good photo. I want…

God truly does miraculous things and the power of a simple prayer can never be underestimated! There is a reason that you went through this ordeal and it sounds like you have taken a lot from the experience already.I hope that your students can appreciate the life lessons you impart on them over the short time they are with you.

Oh goodness, this story is incredible. I love the photos too! I went to Peru on a mission trip, back in 2000. Beautiful country, I wanna go back. 🙂

YEAHHHHHHH – I adore everything about this post 🙂

PS – I sent you what I think is the “other” beef stir fry recipe that Jamie was making on the show. The black bean one is the one that comes up if you search for his stir fry (and is in the cook book) but this is one I found on his newsletter months ago and I think it may be what they were using on the show. No bean sauce to have to track down!

You’re awesome, BTW!! 🙂 (PS – How fun would it be to cook together?!!!)

Got Hit By the Gluten Stick

Every once in a while I get hit with the gluten stick, meaning I have I eaten food that was contaminated with traces of gluten and I get sick. I have some crazy allergies to anything that has wheat, rye or barley in it. People often ask me how I came to find that I…

Thanks for sharing your story. Mine is very similar. My symptoms were just like yours, beginning when I was very young. My first diagnosis was Irritable Bowel Syndrome when I was 17 years old, treated with a diet rich in roughage, including raw bran. Needless to say, I suffered a long time with more severe symptoms. It wasn’t until I was 50 years old that I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease, after becoming very ill and losing 20lbs. I am feeling better and stick to a very strict gluten and grain free diet, but I still have problems due to the severe damage to my intestines that occurred from such a long time of eating gluten. I am extremely sensitive to any wheat particle that may cross contaminate my food when I am not eating at home.
I am glad you were able to discover your intolerance earlier in your life that I did. Thank you for sharing some new sources that I had not known about.
    Take Care 🙂

Hi Amber! So glad I got to carpool out with you and Tom — had such a fun time! Glad you stuck with the Lensbaby all day as well — I think it will pay off the next time you use it (and you will feel so much more comfortable while using it, too). Love the one of Joe Photo, and I really like how some of them came out in b&w! Good times! 🙂
