Doing it Jamie Oliver Style

Ok, so I’m obsessed! My friend Gail Werner turned me on to my new favorite show on television, Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. The ABC show is insane! Jamie is the infamous Naked Chef who has turned British cooking upside down and now he wants to do the same thing here in the U.S. Don’t worry, he’s not teaching how Americans how to make Blood Pudding, but how to make healthy & delicious meals that people can actually incorporate into their busy lives. He is trying to start a healthy food revolution and I am in full support! And if you haven’t watched the show yet, catch it online here to catch up and watch it tonight on ABC at 9:00 pm.

If you follow my blog you know that my hubby and I love to cook healthy meals that are colorful, organic and full of flavor. So in a Julia and Julia sort of way, I am going to blog about the meals Jamie cooks each episode. This past week he taught a 1000 people how to make his Sizzling Beef with scallions and black bean sauce dish so I thought I would try making it. We had some friends over for the special occasion and the meal turned out fantastic. The recipe called for black bean sauce, which incidentally was super hard to find, ended up having soy sauce in it, so I didn’t include this key part of the recipe. Instead I used a dash of rice vinegar and put in an extra helping of Tamari Sauce and I think I did alright, cause it turned out AMAZING! The combination of  fresh ginger, garlic, scallions, red pepper and cilantro flavored by toasted Sesami Oil was just the perfect amount of spice on top of the strips of sirloin. We will definitely be making this dish again! Thanks Jamie for a great recipe!

YEAHHHHHHH – I adore everything about this post 🙂

PS – I sent you what I think is the “other” beef stir fry recipe that Jamie was making on the show. The black bean one is the one that comes up if you search for his stir fry (and is in the cook book) but this is one I found on his newsletter months ago and I think it may be what they were using on the show. No bean sauce to have to track down!

You’re awesome, BTW!! 🙂 (PS – How fun would it be to cook together?!!!)
