Farming on IslandWood: Bainbridge Island

This past weekend I went to a wedding of a good friend of mine on Bainbridge Island. The wedding was a three day affair at a outdoor learning center called IslandWood. Literally a school in the woods, IslandWood is a retreat center on 255 acres that is designed to provide environmental education and community stewardship…

Wine Tasting in Temecula

We love wine tasting! And we love Dave & Stephanie! When we moved to Orange County, Dave and Stephanie were the first friends we made. Two years later, they are like family. So when it came time to celebrate Dave’s birthday, we thought it would be fun to take a little day trip to Temecula….

Lock Me Up in a Castoro Cellar Please

Wine tasting has to be one of John and I’s favorite things to do! Rolling green hills filled with vineyards contrasted against blue skies is a breath taking view. Our days are always highlighted with delectable cheeses, dark chocolates and of course wine. California is known for it’s wine, especially it’s jammy Zinfandels and bold…

Vacation: San Francisco with the Girls

One of the things I love most about summer is the time it allows me to just take off and have some fun. I normally travel with my husband, but since he is on a week long writing retreat in Oregon, I thought it was only fair that I get to go on a trip…

“The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco.” — Mark Twain

I adore that quote 🙂 Nick and I spent a few days in July ’08 in San Fran and I know EXACTLY what you’re talking about with it being so chilly!!!

These photos are adorable. Looks like you guys had a blast!

Vacation: Pacific Northwest

My hubby and I galloped up the West Coast, staying with friends in Portland, Seattle and Vancouver. You know what they call Portland? Beervana. More microbreweries than Germany. Of course I can’t drink anything but gluten-free beer, but I did enjoy yummy ciders whenever John got a taster set. And Vancouver’s such a cosmopolitan city…

Ohhh, the emerald-colored lake and lavender sound like places I’d also love to visit, but probably not so much the hike. 🙂 Beautiful images! And that one of you sitting by the window is quite special.
